Bristol Treasure Hunt
Bristol Is the Map. Your Team Is the Strategy.
Navigate. Notice. Decide. Solve.
A competitive urban team challenge around Bristol’s Harbourside, blending treasure-hunt exploration, navigation, clues, problem-solving and points-based decision-making. Teams choose where to go, which challenges are worth the time and when to change plan — with a Reboot layer that makes planning, contribution and learning more visible.

The Experience
Bristol Treasure Hunt turns the Harbourside into a live game board. Teams receive maps, clues and a timed challenge, then head out on foot to find zones, solve problems, answer questions and collect points before the clock runs out.
The smartest route is not always the shortest. Some zones are more valuable, some clues take longer and some opportunities look tempting until the team remembers how far it still has to travel. Planning matters, but so does the ability to change the plan when the city, the clue or the team gives you new information.
Different challenges reward different people. Navigation and observation sit alongside cryptic thinking, logic, decision-making and pace. Optional checkpoint tasks or selected physical activities can add another layer where the chosen programme supports it.
The Reboot version keeps the proven competitive city-challenge mechanics but adds a clearer progression rhythm: plan, go, notice, review, adapt and finish with something worth talking about. It should still feel like a brilliant Bristol adventure, not a training course wearing trainers.
The Reboot Difference
You may recognise the activity. What we do is different.
Plan Before You Sprint
Teams get a short planning window before heading into Bristol, creating space to think about route, roles and priorities before the clock starts driving every decision.
Different Strengths Score
Navigation, observation, puzzles, pace and decision-making reward different strengths, helping teams notice contributions beyond whoever happens to be leading the route.
Finish With the Crossover
The final score closes the game. A short Reboot debrief can then help the team choose which real moments around planning, contribution or adaptation are worth carrying forward.
Make the Trade-Off Visible
Higher-value opportunities can cost more time and distance. The scoring system makes the team’s trade-offs between ambition, efficiency and risk easy to see.
Review and Replan
When the route, clue or clock says the original plan is no longer working, teams are encouraged to stop briefly, notice and make a deliberate adjustment.
Ways To Take Part
There’s more than one way to take part
You don’t have to do everything to be part of everything.
Many Reboot Active experiences offer different ways to contribute, support, observe and participate, so individuals can choose an appropriate level of involvement.
Navigate & Observe
Read the map, spot landmarks, notice details and help the team choose a route through Bristol's challenge zones.
Plan the Route
Keep an eye on time, points and distance so the team is making deliberate choices rather than simply chasing the next clue.
Solve & Decode
Take the lead on clues, codes, observation questions and problem-solving tasks when that is where you can add the most value.
Keep Time & Connect the Clues
You do not have to be the fastest walker or loudest navigator to matter. Track timing, organise information and help the team connect what different people are noticing.
Perfect For . . .
Bristol Treasure Hunt is a strong Start Activity for teams who want something social, competitive and accessible without committing the whole group to a technical outdoor sport. Different tasks reward different strengths, so navigators, observers, puzzle-solvers, planners and energetic point-chasers can all contribute.
It works particularly well for away days, graduate and onboarding groups, established teams looking for a lively shared experience and organisations that want a Bristol-based activity that can expand into a half-day or full-day programme.
Team Value
What this experience can create opportunities for
The activity creates a genuine planning problem. Teams have limited time, different scoring opportunities and incomplete information, so they have to decide what is worth pursuing rather than simply completing a fixed list in order.
That creates opportunities to practise communication, problem-solving, observation, navigation, decision-making and role allocation. Teams also receive immediate feedback from the game: poor route choices cost time, missed details lose points and returning late can carry a penalty.
The Reboot version adds a clearer learning arc without turning the experience into a workshop. Teams are encouraged to plan before they sprint, notice who is contributing in different ways and use short review points to decide what to change. A final debrief can connect those real moments back to work where useful.
What it can Reveal
What people may naturally notice while doing it
Bristol Treasure Hunt can make prioritisation and team habits visible. Does the group chase the biggest-looking opportunity without considering travel time? Does one confident navigator dominate even when somebody else has spotted the better clue? Does the team keep following a plan after the evidence says it is no longer working?
Because the challenges vary, it can also expose whether a group notices and uses different strengths. The useful crossover is not that every workplace should become a treasure hunt, but that teams routinely make decisions with limited time, mixed information and competing priorities.
